It had been nineteen years since all the Blake children were together, two of the girls, Mrs. Wm. Otwell and Mrs. Wm. Beason, having moved to Oklahoma several years ago, but they came back to old Cleburne this summer to see the old red hills they once loved so dearly and the many relatives and friends who live here, and their sister, Mrs. Perry Lott of Monroe, Georgia met them here at mother's, "Aunt Mary" McEachern. This brings all the Blake children together except three boys, John, Tom and Neal, so "Aunt Mary" and "Uncle Archie" being the stepparents of all the Blake children except Mrs. Lott, suggested that the children and famlies meet at the home, the former home of the Blake children, and it was very agreeable to all, of course. So early that morning the guests began to arrive and "Uncle Archie" and "Aunt Mary" were ready to greet each one with a smile, to start the day off right. After we had been there a short time, "Uncle Archie" began to cut watermelons which were very delicious. The time was so delightful we hardly realized that it was near noon time when "Aunt Mary" announced that dinner was ready to be served. My! Such a tempting dinner makes me hungry to think of it now! She had spared no pains in preparing the dinner and every one seemed to enjoy it to the fullest extent. After dinner, a photographer who was presnt, made pictures of the crowd, then followed the talking over of the good old times spent together and of the many changed that had taken place since they were all at home together. Then we had a good time singing some good religious songs which made us think of our future home and the preparations we must make before we can enter our heavenly home, and it seemed to draw us closer together and gave us the strength and determination to be ready when we are called to separate in this world. The saddest hour of the day was when the time for parting came; we all had such an enjoyable day, which can truthfully be called a "perfect day" and we only hope it will some day be repeated. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Otwell and son Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Beason and two sons of Snyder, Oklahoma Mrs. Perry Lott and son of Monroe, Georgia Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Beason and family Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cox and family Mr. and W.M. Blake and many of Uncle Archie and Aunt Mary's neighbors. Written by one who was present. ____ MR.
