Adams will become sheriff of Cleburne county, succeeding M.F. McWhorter whose resignation was sent to Gov. Kilby several days ago, to take effect on that date. Mr. Adams is a brother of L.E. Adams, at one time sheriff of the county and has lived in Cleburne all his life. ___ MRS. IONE SEAMAN LAID TO REST The death of Mrs. Ione Seaman, devoted daughter of Mr. Thomas Adams, and sister of Messrs. Benton and Lovic Adams, at a hospital in Birmingham last week, was a profound shock to her many relatives and friends in Cleburne. For many long months her suffering was intense but she bore it all as a true christian and is said not to have complained. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. G.B. Boman, assisted by Rev. W.M. Wade on Saturday afternoon with interment in the Heflin cemetery. Mrs. Seaman was born at Chulafinnee June 21, 1894; was educated in the public schools at Anniston and the State Normal School at Jacksonville, graduating from the latter institution and later took a special course at the University of Alabama. After completing her studies she began teaching in the public schools at Oxford but was stricken with influence during the month of November 1918 and never regained her health. In her early life and up to the time she was stricken with that dread malady Miss Ione took a great deal of interest in educational affairs. She joined the Missionary Baptist church in Anniston in 1915 and lived a consistent christian life to the day of her death. She was married to Mr. J.C. Seaman on October 15, 1918. After being stricken, her health gradually failing, she went to the mountains of North Carolina where she spent several months; from there she went to a far western climate in quest of health but continued to grow worse, returning home last fall. She remained in a hospital at Birmingham about five months where she passed away at 2:15 o'clock April 29th. Through al lthose trying days of suffering and pain she never complained, and to members of the family, spoke of her future and that she was prepared to go and expected to meet her mother in heaven. To the father and other near relatives, The News extends sincere sympathy in their great loss. ____ 4 NEW SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE NEWS FROM LOUISIANA Wednesday evening's mail from the west brought The News four yearly subscriptions from Louisiana, all from former Cleburne county boys, sent in by our good friend Elijah Hogan: W.T.
