Currie of Oakfuskee died Wednesday John W. Currie, one of the oldest citizens of Cleburne County, died at his home at Oakfuskee this county Wednesday, He was 86 years old. Mr. Currie had been in feeble health for several years and his death was not unexpected. He was buried with Masonic honors Thursday by Dallas Lodge of Chulafinnee assisted by members of Caldwell Lodge of Heflin. Additional Comments: John W. Currie was born Mar 15, 1818, in SC. He married Sarah Reynolds. They are both buried in Hepsebah Baptist Cemetery Cleburne County. Several children were born to this union. He owned and operated a General Store/Post Office on the Randolph/Cleburne County line. He was Postmaster of Oakfuskee until 1899, when he turned the store and the Post Office over to his son Percy F. Currie.
