Mr. Peslen was grinding coffee while his wife was getting supper when he was shot. Eight buck shot entered his body. One went through him. He fell and they repeated the fire, the shot entering the wall just above him. He died in a short time. It was done by some unknown hands but in a few days they suspicioned Stanford White, one of the twin sons of Obadiah White. He had made some threats against the deceased. He is lodged in jail and we learn that he will have his trial tomorrow. We understand that Mr. Peslen was a good, honest citizen. He lived near Gaines' bridge on the big river.
