Smith, 79, of Fruithurst were held Nov. 29 at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Owen, David Ginn and Ronnie Williams. Burial followed in the Upper Cane Creek Cemetery. Dryden Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Mr. Smith died Nov. 26 at Trinity Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1927. He was a native and life long resident of Cleburne County. He was decorated U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Mr. Smith was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was a Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by one sister, six brothers and two sons Danny and Roger Smith. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Smith of Fruithurst; a daughter and son-in- law, Taressa and Michael Parker of Oxford; a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Becky Smith of Fruithurst; 10 grandchildren, Keith Parker, Kristie Parker, Bob Smith, Mark Smith, Peter Smith, Callie Smith, Julie Smith, Jennie Smith, Anthony Smith, Heather Ellis; two daughter-in-law, Phyllis Smith of Oxford and Kathy Smith of Heflin; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Scotty Ellis, Kyle Mann, Keith Parker, Brandon Smith, Danny Smith and Mark Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were Anthony Smith, Peter Smith and Bob Smith.
