The grandparents came from South Carolina to Pike County, Ala. and lived there all their lives. John E. Pittman was educated in the common schools of Pike County, Ala. He is a farmer, a Democrat; a Mason; an Odd Fellow; a Knight of Pythias; a Red Man; and a Woodman of the World. He was married at Victoris, Coffee County, Ala. to Fannie Chapman, the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Chapman of Victoria, Ala.
