Coffee County AlArchives Cemeteries.....Hudson/Stinson Cemetery - Partial Survey More to Come ************************************************ Copyright. It was a private cemetery and there was no church associated with it. It has been called Hudson Cemetery for many years. The story in the Coffee County Heritage book states that when Giles Hudson's second wife died, he paid the owner of the land on which the cemetery rested $10 for the deed to the property. The second wife was buried there, and later, he and his third wife and many of their family members were buried there. His first wife was Peggy Woods (mother of Pony and Charlie) who was buried in Montgomery County, Alabama, where her family lived. The cemetery is on AL Hwy. 189, about 6 miles from Elba, going toward Brantley. It sits between Coffee County Roads 351 (dirt) and 349 (paved) on the east side of Al 189. That intersection was called Stinson's Crossroads many years ago. Most of the names on the tombstones are Hudson, relatives of the Hudson family, or past members of the community.
