Coming from Elba, turn left (north) onto Coffee County Rd. 215. The cemetery is behind the old church building. After you turn onto 215, there is a sharp left curve, then you will see the cemetery. This church and cemetery were known as Bethlehem prior to the 1970s. The name was changed to eliminate confusion with other churches in the area with the same name. The church was established around 1856, and I am sure that some old graves that did not have permanent markers have been lost. From my childhood, I remember small dirt-mound graves with little wooden stakes that are now lost. I started at the front (east) and worked row-by-row toward the back. Sometimes the rows were not very straight. In some places it seems that the graves were not put in rows at all. I surveyed the old part of the cemetery first. Then, I recorded the new part that is near the road. A new section on the west side, in back of the old part, has been created, but no graves are there yet. The survey is complete, and has been proofed twice. There are probably some errors still remaining. If you see a mistake, please e-mail me with the information (kking1947@centurytel.net).
