Know all men by these presents that we Newsom Taunton and Nancy Taunton, wife of said Newsom Taunton of Coffee County, Ala., for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars to us in hand paid by James Rumph of Macon County, Ala., have hererby bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do bargain sell and convey unto the said James Rumph his heirs and assigns the following described lands to wit the south west quarter of the North East quarter of section eighteen (18) in Township five (5) of Range twenty (20) To have & to hold the said lands to his own use and behoof forever And we the said Newsom Taunton and Nancy Taunton his wife do covenant with the said James Rumph that the said premises are free from all incumbrances that we have a good right to sell and convey the same and that we will warrant and defend the title hereby conveyed to the said James Rumph his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. I, James Claxton, Probate Judge for Coffee County, do hereby certify that Newsom Taunton and his wife Nancy Taunton whose names are signed to the foregoing and who are known to me acknowledged before me on this day that being informed of the contents of the conveyance they executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
