Wednesday, September 30, 1885 Page Three Local Intelligence We regret to learn that Hon. Mason C. Kimmey, departed this life at his residence in Coffee County last week, after an illness of something like twelve hours. Captain Kimmey was a gallant soldier in the late war, commanding a company in the Thirty-third Alabama regiment. He was severely wounded at Murphreesboro, and measurably disabled and disqualified for active duty afterward. He served his county in the lower house of the Legislature in 18756, (this is the way the year was printed) making an effective and acceptable member. He was a very large and fine looking man, with much energy and generous heart. His family and friends will greatly miss him.
