Campbell Is Killed In Action In Reich March 25 Mr. and Mrs. T. Ed Campbell, Oak View Circle, Florence received a telegram Saturday night from the War Department stating that their son, Second Lt. Thomas Edwin Campbell Jr., was missing was erroneous and that he had been killed in action over Germany on March 25. No further details were given. Lt. Campbell would have been 21 years old May 12. He was born in Florence and attended grade school in the Florence city schools. After completing two years work at St. Bernard College, Cullman, He transferred to Columbia Military Academy, Columbia, Tenn., where he graduated in 1942. He entered the Citadel to study engineering in the fall of 1942, but volunteered for the services in the air corps in December. He was called to active duty in February, 1943 and upon his completion of his training received his wings and his commission at Donthan. Sent overseas in February, 1945 he was serving as a co-pilot of a B-24 bomber and had completed about 40 missions. Lt. Campbell is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Campbell, of Florence.
