H. DAWSON William H. Dawson, aged 51, died at the home at Leighton, route 2, Wednesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. He had been in ill health for the past seven months and had been seriously ill for the past month. Deceased was a member of the Church Of Christ and had lived all his life in the Leighton community where he was born. He served in the army during the first world war as a private in the M. G. company of the 322nd infantry. He entered the army May 28, 1918, and received his discharge June 24, 1919. Survivors; his widow, Mrs. Julia Dawson; eight sons, Clarence, Pride, Howard, Donald, DeWitt, Bobby, Ray and Homer Gene; two daughter, Marie and Shirley; a brother, John Dawson, all of Leighton, route 2; three sisters, Mrs. Ola Cagle, Mt. Hope, Miss Larcy Dawson and Miss Mattie Dawson, both of Leighton. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Old Bethel church, near Leighton, by Billy Harrison, Church Of Christ minister. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery, Brown Service, Tuscumbia, directing. Pallbearers were Harvey Hall, Emmett Grissom, Quinton Grissom, Earl Landers, Preston Pace, William Terry, Rankin Crosby and Walter Harrison.
