The present church was built in 1861. W.C. Morrow preached the dedication sermon. On September 24-26, 1854, the 48th Annual Session of the Bethlehem Baptist Association was held at Brooklyn Baptist Church. The minutes of this meeting read: "Report on the State of Religion and Digest of Letters"- Your Committee beg leave to report, that in consequence of some cause only twenty of the forty-four churches composing the Association, are represented in this body that the presumable cause is the unholy war of subjugation, waged by an untiring and merciless enemy; that though in the midst of the troubles and confusion of war, God has been gracious to many of the churches, in granting them the refreshing influence of the Holy Spirit, and building them up by an ingathering of many precious souls. We therefore would recommend the favored churches, and all Christians to bow suppliantly and earnestly to the God of Nations, that He would speak peace out of this confusion, so that all the churches may be represented in the next Association. Noah Parker, Chairman.
