Be it known that I, MARY CARTER of the aforesaid State and County, for an in consideration of the good will, love and natural affection which I have and bear to my beloved daughter, SARAH SANSOM, (wife of JOHN L. SANSOM of the County and State aforesaid) do by these presents give, deed and grant unto my said daughter, SARAH SANSOM, and to the heirs of her own body the following described property. Vis: One Negro man named JACK, aged about thirty five years, and Negro boy, LEWIS, aged about two years, also one fourth part of all the rest and residue of this estate I may die seized and possessed of, not otherwise conveyed, and excepting, and reserving the sum of two hundred dollars, first to my son CLARK CARTER to be expended in the purchase of gravestones, and etc. To have and to hold, to the only proper use, and benefit of the said SARAH SANSOM, and the natural heirs of her own body, forever. Additional Comments: Mary Carter was the wife of Isaac Carter, who died around 1845 in conecuh Co, AL. They were members of Mars Hill Baptist Church and later, Murder Creek (Belleville) Baptist Church.
