Samuel White Oliver was my g-grandfather. You have him correctly posted as a State Representative, in which position he served 1821-28 and 1831-36. He was elected as State Senator for 36-7, but resigned in 1837 and moved to Dallas county, where he ran for Governor against Arthur Bagby of Monroe County. He died Jan 18, 1838 of "the fever." Thus, the entry for his being a senator from Conecuh in 1841-42 is in error. Ward H. Oliver Baton Rouge
