This file was contributed and copyrighted by: STEPHEN LEE ==================================================================== May 2003 Obituary of Thomas Boyd Andrews from The Evergreen Courant Thursday, May 28, 1931 Confederate Veteran Dies At Castleberry By Forrest Castleberry Castleberry, Ala., May 26 - A Confederate soldier who was shell shocked more than 65 years ago died here Friday at the ripe old age of 90. He was T. B. Andrews, father of George Andrews of this place and with whom he had made his home for the last nine years. He served throughout the Civil war and was a member of Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's cavalry troop which dealt so much misery to northern troops throughout the war. He was attached to Troop A, Fourth Alabama cavalry. Mr. Andrews was born, reared, and spent virtually his entire life in Monroe county. In addition to the son here, he also is survived by a daughter, Mrs. L. C. Barron, at Atmore. Funeral services were held Saturday, followed by burial in the Holland cemetery here. Rev. M. R. Evans, pastor of the local Methodist church, aided by Rev. R. D. Wright, Baptist pastor, conducted the services.
