Butler County News, Thursday, January 02, 1919
Mrs. Nancy J. Houston, widow of Thomas M. Houston, a long time resident of 
Owassa, Ala., died at the home of her son, James M. Houston, No. 602 Columbus 
Street, Montgomery at an early hour Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Houston has been quite ill a while and it was known for some time that 
death was near.  She was born near Garland, Ala. in 1839, a daughter of Rev. 
and Mrs. John Myers and would have celebrated her eightieth birthday in a few 
weeks.

Even with death near she was always cheerful and had a smile for all.  Mrs. 
Houston was one of the oldest inhabitants of Owassa where she lived most of 
her life.  The remains were carried to Owassa.
