This file was contributed by: Annette Bradford ==================================================================== December 2003 The names are listed in rows, from left to right, beginning at the far left side closest to the Monroe/Samuels home and from the road back. The rows are uneven and there are gaps: some are empty plots and some are unmarked graves. Any additional information listed is how it is found on the tombstone. All months are abbreviated regardless of how they appeared on the tombstones. No permission is required to enter this cemetery (or to be buried in it). The land on which the cemetery is located was deeded to the Mt. Pleasant church by Ruben Smith. The church sat on what is now the Charles W. Samuels and Edna Samuels Monroe property, located at Route 3 Box 73C, Goodwater, AL 35072, Phone number 256-377-4127. The cemetery is located State on Coosa County Road 49 west of US 280. From Sylacauga, take 280 South approximately 10 miles, turn right/west onto 49 and go toward Hanover. Mt. Pleasant is on the right about two miles from the US 280 turnoff. The GPS coordinates are North 33 degrees, 1.870 minutes, West 86 degrees, 10.379 minutes. It is all the remains of the Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church. According to Ruby Samuels (who remembers playing under the church as a child), it was still standing in 1923. It fell into disuse and was eventually torn down. The church stood to the right of the Samuels/Monroe house in approximately the location of the big cedar tree found in the yard.
