Bridges" An Interesting Deal (Electric Power Plant) - Coosa Co., AL "An Interesting Deal" Sylacauga people have bought the water power rights of the McEwen’s on Hatchett Creek four miles north of Rockford, including 20 acres for land for $3,600 and will use the property for an electric lighting and power plant. It is said that the principle purpose is to furnish light and power for the city of Sylacauga. There is no reason why Rockford should not be benefited by the deal, as there is enough interest here to induce the company to conduct the fluid in this direction and dispel the darkness that often hovers over our beautiful village."
