ALGenWeb Archive File Manager - Carolyn Golowka March 1999 A Glorious Fourth - Coosa Co., AL "A Glorious Fourth Quite a number of families gathered at the residence of Mr. Levi Washam’s, better known as the Logan Place, and spent the fourth gloriously in the beautiful grove. They served ice cream, lemonade, and Coca-Cola, and at twelve o’clock the ladies began to spread white cloths and my! My! Such a grand dinner they have prepared. Everybody ate to their satisfaction. Those being present were Mr. and Mrs. W. S Washam and two children, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Gothard and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Miller and daughter, Miss Jeannie, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Gothard, Mr. and Mrs. Acie Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Coon Washam, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Gothard, and Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Gothard. Late in the afternoon a few songs were sang and played and all began to leave for their homes praising the good time and the dear old fourth."
