Harden, one mile west of Rockford, was destroyed by fire last Friday afternoon, and for some time his elegant residence was in great danger. The barn and its contents were highly inflammable and burnt very rapidly and a high wind arose driving the flames in the direction of his dwelling - a building between the barn yard and main building increased the danger. But neighbors gathered at the first sight of the fire and by precautionary work saved all except the barn." (1) (1) The Chronicle, Fire Destroys Barn, 21 Jan 1910, p. 4.
