Two Escapes From Jail July 21, 1887
Net Kendrick and Willis Bolen, (col) two prisoners confined in jail made their 
escape Monday night. They were confined in a room with an opening in the ceiling 
which led to the scuttle hole on the roof, and by moving a stove under the 
opening they managed to climb into the garret and then out on the root. Securing 
some half dozen blankets they tore them into strips, tied them together and 
together and securing them to a beam swung off to the ground, a distance of some 
35 feet. Another prisoner confined a jail a few weeks since made his escape in a 
similar manner, and hereafter steps will be taken to prevent such an easy 
delivery.
