"Local and Personal 
Mrs. Vastine Hughes, wife of Thomas Hughes, died at an early hour last
Tuesday morning. She was a most excellent woman and her loss will be
greatly felt by her husband, eight children, and many relatives and
friends." (1)

Note: Vashti A. Hughes (b. 18 Feb 1866 & d. 12 Jan 1909) is buried in
Concord Methodist Cemetery, located at Hissop, Coosa Co., AL. Inscribed
on her headstone, besides the birth and death dates, is Wife of T. J.
Hughes.
