"John Ray Dead

Mr. John Ray, 67, years of age, was buried at Shiloh Baptist church
Wednesday afternoon. The funeral services were conducted by Rev.
Penson, the Pastor of the church.
Mr. Ray was found dead in the field where he had been at work.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been since a young
man. His wife proceeded him a few years ago.
The old must die; the young may die." (1)

Additional Comments:

John W. Ray and his wife, Emma H. Ray, are both buried in the New
Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, located north of Nixburg, Coosa Co., AL,
off Highway #9. There are no dates on their headstones. Their son,
Julius L. Ray, (b. 2 Apr 1888 & d. 4 Apr 1913) is buried near them.
