She and I copied and transcribed the records together. The original records are store in the First National Bank of Dozier in Dozier, Alabama. Jeanette and I both have paper copies also. We also gave a copy to Agnes Raley, the church Secretary who graciously accompanied us to the bank to see the records. I've attached the church records in .txt format. I also have in Word Perfect if you would prefer in that format. Hope you don't have any problems with them. If you do just let me know and we'll see if we can fix them. Just to let you know Daniel Dozier is mine and Jeanette's g,g,g,grandfather. The town of Dozier (where I grew up) is named for him. Lois Danley and I will probably begin transcribing the 1850 Covington Co. agricultural census soon. As soon as we finish we will send to you for posting to the Genweb site. May take a while though. Take care. Steve Etheridge Records of the Goodhope Primitive Baptist Church County Highway 63 Covington County, Alabama (located in section no. 1, township 6 north, range 16 East) We have transcribed these papers to the best of our abilities to read and make out each one. Some of the copies were not good. So we have done the best we can. Each entry is as close to the way it was written as possible. We tried not to change even the misspelled words or add or subtract punctuation. Some portions of pages were missing and some words undecipherable. In such cases we have left question marks or (unreadable word) instead. There are supposedly earlier records for the church, as well as, a personal journal kept by Daniel Dozier. As of this date we have not been able to locate them. They were not being kept with these records. If anyone has an idea where these records might be, we would appreciate your letting us know by contacting us directly or through a post on "Tracking Your Roots."
