This file was contributed and copyrighted by: Lisa Graham ================================================================================= February 2004 The Andalusia Star, July 15, 1915 DOZIER HARTIN NOT GUILTY Dozier Hartin, who was arrested on a charge of having caused the death of Leonard BARNES at a picnic several days ago, had a preliminry hearing before Judge Salter yesterday morning and was discharged from custody after the hearing of evidence. Hartin was completely exonerated of all blame, as it was clearly shown at the trial to be self defense. NOTES added by Lisa Graham: H.L. (Leonard) Barnes was buried in Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Covington Co. AL. His tombstone reads 24 Feb.1880- 03 July 1915. He was married to Lula ? His death Certificate states reads that he died in Covington Co.,AL. on July 04, 1915, age 38, White & shot with a Pistol. His parents were Joseph & Caroline Jackson Barnes of Covington.
