The Luverne Journal Oct.17 1928
MERRILL-Rev.R.B.Merrill died at his home near Dozier last Wednesday 
afternoon,Oct 3,at 5:30.He had a stroke from which he had not entirely 
recovered from when about a week before his death another stroke was 
suffered,from which he never regained consciousness. He was the son of Mr and 
Mrs W.J.Merrill.He was born August 26, 1864, near where he resided at the time 
of his death.He is survived by his wife:  two brothers, John of Laurel Hill 
Fla;and Henry J. of near Dozier; three sisters,Mrs Laura Cannon of Kinston 
Ala; Mrs. Ola Odom of Searight,Ala;and Mrs Jessie Henderson of Brantley;his 
stepmother,Mrs.W.J.Merrill of Brantley, our children,Marvin of near Dozier, 
Mrs T.W.Taylor of Sarasota Fla.,Mrs.Myrna Faulkner of near Dozier and 
Mrs.Eunice McLelland of Little Rock Arkansas and several grandchildren.Mr 
Merrill was well known through out this section of the county as a minister of 
the Gospel of the Baptist Church.he served his home church as pastor for 
several years during his ministery.he was a Mason and loved the fraternity.A 
host of friends mourn his departure.Funeral services were conducted from the 
home by J.T.Cameron pastor of the Methodist church and G.D.Everett,pastor of 
the Baptist church,both of Dozier.The masons took charge and laid the body to 
rest in Good Hope Cemetery.We feel sure that our loss is his gain.
