The State of Alabama, Covington County

To any Minister of The Gospel, Judge of the Supreme of Circuit Court, or 
Chancellor of said State, Judge of Probate, or any Justice of the Peace of said 
County- Greeting:
   You are hereby authorized to celebrate the RITES OF MATRIMONY bewteen  
J. H. Barnes and Lula Bell May and this shall be your sufficient 
authority  for so doing.
Given under my hand and seal, this 28 Day of December 1898 (should be 1897)
J.M. Robinson- Judge of probate (L.S.)

The above named parties were married by me at the residence of the bride
on the 29 Day of December 1897.  L.T. Wells,
