I am 85 years old the 30th of this month. I came to Crenshaw county at the age
of five years.  I lived in Beat 3 one mile north of Bradleyton until the close of
the war. I moved to where I am now living in Beat 5 (near New Providence). I have
lived in Crenshaw County 80 years.  I came from North Carolina in a cart, seven in
the family.  I have one sister, Julia Spradley of Troy 91 years old, one brother 76
year, Charlie Boone of this county.  I was married at the age of 22 in 1852.  I
joined the Missionary Baptist church at the age of 26.  I lived in a log house
with a dirt floor and only had two meals a day and picked the seed out of cotton
to get the lint to spin and weave.  Best Wishes
