All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Debra Maddox Wilson JWi4194718@aol.com July 18, 2005, 6:50 pm Service Records Enlisted Talbotton Co Georgia for three years of service.Unit formed spring of 1862 and with men from Upson,Schley,Harris,Muscogee,Chattahoochee,Webster,Marion,and Talbot Counties.Wounded at Battle Kennasaw ,hospitality in Rome Georgia for thirty four days.Special Requistion was one pair of pants and one hat.The unit served in Georgia,then South Carolina where they was involed in the conflicts at Secessionville, and Gaston and Frampton's Plantation.In May 1863 assigned to General Gist's Brigade,and moved to Mississippi.After taking part in the siege of Jackson the regiment joined the Army of Tennessee and fought on many battlefields from Chickamauga to Atlanta,saw action in Tennessee and North Carolina.In December 1863 the unit totalled was 628 men and 513 arms.Their commanders were Colonels Peyton H Colguitt and Samuel J C Dunlop,Lieutenant Colonel William A Daniel,and Major A M Speer. Paroled at Greenboro,North Carolina May 1,1865. Additional Comments: Married Roxie Ann Victoria Morgan(daughter of Elijah Morgan and Sophia Lanier) July 11 1866 in Meriwether Co;Georgia and in 1870's moved to Crenshaw Co;Alabama.Both are buried at Morgan family cemetery in Crenshaw Co.
