ROSSON, Editor and Publisher Subscription Price $1.50 a Year Thursday February 11, 1932 The Cullman Democrat Cullman, Alabama CAMPBELL SERIOUSLY WONDED IN CUTTING AFFAIR General Campbell, a farmer of Ardell, was seriously wounded Friday after noon by Jack Campbell, a relitave, who wielded a knife. The injured man was brought to Cullman and is being treated in the hospital here. Jack Campbell was logded in jail, the grand jury investigated the affray. STILL, LIQUOR FOUND IN ARDEL PASTURE SUNDAY Deputies of the Ardel community raided a still set up in a pasture near Ardel on Sunday. A gallon of liquor was brought in and the still destroyed. The pasture belonged to Jack Campbell who is in jail here in connection with the wounding of General Campbell, of that vicinity Friday. Death Notice February 11, 1932 The Cullman Democrat Cullman, Alabama Willian Schumann born October 21, 1852 in Colbe Prussia, died Monday February 8th. Mrs. O. C. Jaggers, well known and beloved Cullman woman; passed away at the home of her mother, Mrs. W. S. Yearwood here, on Wednesday February 10 at 7:15 She was 39 years old. Dora Shell Henry Passes, the youngest daughter of Mr. Mrs. Shell, of Fairview, Ala. Tuscaloosa, Feb. 7, Richard Campbell, & Truman Banbarger, were killed Sunday Morning when the automobile in which they were in route to Eutaw over turned on the Tuscaloosa-Eutaw Highway. JONES CHAPEL SCHOOL NEWS The first team boys of our school played an interesting game in Cullman with Welti last Thursday night and defeated them 26-25 We enjoyed a good speech presented by Mr. MOORE and a health picture followed by doctors from Cullman R. E. Moore visited Jones Chapel Thursday night and gave a very good talk over, Dr. Whiteside and two other men, who were with him, gave a show on hookworms. The singing at R. L. Wren's home was enjoyed by a large crowd. R. M. Reaves gave the farmers of this community some very good information on how to prune all kinds of fruit trees last Friday afternoon. The Senior I Class has finally received their senior privilege WHEAT NEWS Sitting by the fire is the order of the day. A large crowd attended preaching and Sunday School at Bethany Sunday. Vergie Williams and Deltis Willoughby and Robert Ballenger attended prayer services at Livingston Chapel Saturday night. We are all glad to say that General Campbell is improving nicely. Several from Cold Springs attended preaching at Bethany Sunday. Among them were Flavel and Grover Stricklin, Bernice Hancock. Avery Calvert and Earl Harbison were at preaching Sunday. Mr. and Mrs Lige Calvert spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Freeman at Bushy Pond. Clara and Vida Calvert spent Saturday night with Lora and Velma McSwain. Lester Stricklin and Johnnie Hancock were at Bethany Sunday. Vera Williams spent Wednesday afternoon with Eunice Williams. Arrie Eady spent last week at Cullman with her aunt, Mrs. Elizie Harbison. Ezra Williams was in this community last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Harbison motored to Wheat Sunday. COCHRAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ARSON CHARGE Ance Cochran pleads guilty to a charge of arson at Circuit Court here Thursday and was sentenced to serve two years and a day in the penitentiary. Cochran was charged with the burning of J. B. Elrod gin near Baileyton, September 13, 1931. Everybody remember there will be preaching at Bethany next third Sunday at eleven o'clock and singing in the afternoon. Everybody come and bring your basket well filled and let's have a good singing.
