William Jefferson Holoway of Arab 2 died Monday morning following a two-month 
illness. He was 74 years old. He was born in Randolph County but had lived in 
the Arab area since he was 10 years old. He was a farmer and was a member of the 
New Canaan Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mr. Holoway were held at the New 
Canaan Baptist Church by Rev. George Nelms. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery 
with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge. Mr. Holoway is survived by his wife, 
Mrs. Lucindie Maze Holoway; five sons, Grady Holoway of Arab 3 and Aurice, Buren 
and Arbin Holoway of Arab 2; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Campbell, Mrs. Euna 
Bailey, Mrs. Lonie Flemings and Mrs. Ellavee Phillips, all of Arab 2; three 
brothers, Henry, Finice and Deolis Holoway, all of Arab 2; a half-brother, 
Lonzie Holoway of Arab 2; a sister, Mrs. Lela Bannister of Hanceville, 20 
grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Grandsons served as active 
pallbearers.
