Metz, one of Cullmans representavive citizens pass away into the great beyond on Tuesday afternoon, after many weeks of suffering, some times better then growing worse until the end. Mr. Metz was born in Tennessee coming to Alabama when only a young boy and his long and useful life was spent within the confines of Cullman Cpounty. In his young manhood he taught school, remaining in the profession for twenty-two years, after which was elected superintendent of education, then he held the position of probate clerk, was with C. A. Stiefelmeyer Department Store for several years and for the past eight years was owner of the West Side Furniture store. For many years Mr. Metz was a member of the church of Christ, in which he was earnest worker and consistant member to the close of his life. He is survived by his wife, the following children: Oscar Metz, Mrs. A. C. Morris, Mrs. P. R. Johnson, of Birmingham: Mrs, W. T. Daniel, of Vinemont, and Reaford Metz, of Cullman. He is also survied by his brother Marshall Metz, a prominent business of Selma. The Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the Protestant Cemetery by Rev. M. A. Rucker, George Stahmer, Ganos Daugherty, Earnest Williamson, Thom Smith. Honorary pall-bearers: Lee Cochran, Jim Kilpatrick, Sam Green, Henry Wallace, Tom Muse, Leonard Thompson, Dr. J. C. Martin, Robert Knight, Dr. L. N. Whitman, O. S. Roden.
