Acker (no Picture ) (1899-1902) (1911-1912) Joseph E. Acker was born at Lincoln, Alabama, on January 16, 1863. He attended the public schools of Lincoln after which he entered Oxford College. He graduated with the A.B. degree from Oxford, and later graduated from the Law School of the University of Alabama with the LL.B. degree. In 1890 he came to Ozark and practiced law. He was elected Mayor of Ozark four times, and during World War I he was selected as chairman of the Four Minute Men of Dale County. He was Solicitor of Dale County for a number of years, and was considered to be one of the best prosecuting attorneys in this section. February 14, 1913, he married Miss Lucy Sellers. He was a member of the Baptist Church, the Masons, K. of P., and Odd Fellows. He died March 4, 1947, at his home in Ozark.
