Thacker ================================================================================ July 2005 PLEASANT RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY CR 15, Arguta Community Directions: From the Dale County Courthouse, go north on AL 105 about 5 miles. Turn left on CR 15 and go about 5 miles. The church and cemetery are on the right. Mr. Hayes's Directions: "From Ozark go out Skipperville Highway to Peters Store Turn left on Dirt Road and go about 4 miles."* Organized in 1856 as an off shoot of Antioch Primitive Baptist Church near Skipperville, the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church transitioned to Missionary Baptist faith about 1862. According to the History of Dale County Baptist Association 1865-1993 book,"After securing three acres from Lewis Brown for $15, the first church was erected." The first marked grave is that of five–year old Jasper Casey, son of Lemuel and Nancy Casey, who was “killed in accident at gin.” Surveyed by Francis Rayford and Manonia Snell, 18 November 2002and updated by Mr. Rayford. He gave permission to post to the USGenWeb Archives Project - Dale County, Alabama on July 2, 2005. He sent the updated survey to Christine G. Thacker for posting.
