Wednesday morning, January 21, 1885 Page Two Ozark Circuit From the Alabama Christian Advocate At 4 p.m., December 31st, 1884, we bid Rocky Mount circuit a tender goodbye, and setting our faces South-eastward, took up our journey for Ozark Circuit. After a journey of sixty miles, enduring rain, mud, cold wind, hard frozen ground, etc., we arrived at our new home in Ozark at half-past ten o’clock Saturday morning, January 3d, 1885. When we got in sight of our “hired house” it was positively comforting to see smoke curling from the chimneys; and still more so to enter rooms warmed by rousing fires. All this comfort was increased by finding a “goodly company” waiting to receive us. Our reception was hearty and cordial. On our arrival we found wood and lightwood already furnished, corn and fodder for the horse, and supplies for the table to comfort the “outer man.” So without trouble or delay we went right to housekeeping. Yesterday morning – Sunday – the Sunday-school was very fine, considering the day was inclement. Everything moved as by exact system. Such a school is a blessing to the church. At 11 o’clock the congregation was good and singing charming. I am pleased with my appointment.
