          Ariton Observing 70th Birthday June 27.


    Ariton Gun Club Loses 	
W.W. Fussell, E.K. Windham, I.M. Grimmer and W.C. Barr, representing the Ariton 
Gun Club, went to Brundidge Friday evening and engaged in a match shoot with 
members ofthe Brundidge Gun Club. The shoot was attended by a large and very 
enthusiastic crowd, who delighted in seeing Brundidge carry off the honors of 
the day. A shoot at the local club will be arranged for a near date with 
Brundidge.

            Ozark 4:  Ariton 14
(The following sports item is reprinted from the May 5, 1914 edition of The 
Ariton AdvertiseI:)
 On last Friday afternoon on the local diamond at the college, Ariton and Ozark 
crossed bats in the first game of the season.
 The Ariton team proved entirely too heavy for the Ozark boys the game being 
conceded to Ariton from the start. The score resulted 14 to 4 in favor of 
Ariton. Trawick and Trawick, for the	local team, did excellent work, while 
Pippin and Barnard, for Ozark, were handicapped by poor support.
  Ariton added another victory to the list Saturday, when it defeated 
Longstreet by a score of 14 to 2. For a lover of food baseball such games do 
not exactly meet with their approval; however, they prove excellent practice 
games for the boys.

            Largest Cotton Sale
One of. the largest cotton transactions ever made in this county was made on 
last Thursday night when the Ariton Mercantile Co., sold to the Malone Cotton 
Company, of Dothan, 1,200 bales of cotton.
