CORPORAL GEO. S. BARNARD GRADUATES FIRST IN RADAR CLASS
   Graduated Monday, August 23rd with a 98.1 average.

PFC. RUFUS R. WATERS FINISHES MECHANIC SCHOOL
   Son of  Mr. And Mrs. J.M. Waters of Daleville rt. 1.

PROMOTED TO MAJOR AT FORT SILL, OKLA.
  Major Charles C. Adams is the husband of the former Miss Kathleen Riley, 
daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Pat Riley of Ozark.
  Major and Mrs Riley now live in Auburn.

JOHN OWEN WOODS PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN
  

JAMES A. BRADFORD REPORTS FOR DUTY WITH NAVY
 (In the article it has the name as James Radford, CGT.)
   James Radford is the son  of Katie Pouncey Radford and the late J.H. 
Radford, of Hartford and the grandson of Mrs. Emma Pouncey of Dale County. Also 
the brother of Emma Kate Radford, Ozark's home service worker in Red Cross.

DALE COUNTY SOLDIER RECEIVES PROMOTION
  Pvt. George W. Cheshire , promoted to PFC.
  Son of Mr. And Mrs. A.F. Cheshire of rt. 1, Midland City.

ARITON SERGEANT NOW ON DUTY IN ALASKA
  T/Sgt. Gordon K. Riles is the son of the late Mrs. J.M. Riles of Ariton.

HOYETT ADAMS SAFE AND WELL IN JAP CAMP
    Mrs. Bob Turner has received a card from her brother Warrant Officer Hoyett 
P. Adams, held by the Japanese as a prisoner . This was the 1st communication 
from her brother since Sept. 12, 1941.

OZARK SAILOR EARNS GUNNER'S MATE RATING
   Maxwell A. Byrd, 19, son of Mr. And Mrs. Carroll Byrd, Rt. 2, Ozark, Ala.

ALABAMA BOYS GRADUATE FOR ARMY AIR FORCE
  Three Alabama graduates are;
Elkin B. Carter, R.F.D. no 1, Troy.
James R. Edwards, 5027 41 Way N. Birmingham.
Kells C. Carroll, Broad Street, Ozark.
