His death came as a great shock to his friends throughout the state. Judge Sessions was taken to Dothan on May 7th. His condition was not considered grave by attending physicians, but as he failed to respond to treatment he gradually grew weaker. Aided by his vigorous constitution it appeared once or twice during his illness that the efforts of his physicians would be rewarded with success. Early Saturday morning a sudden turn for the worse developed and he' sunk rapidly passing away just as the sun was passing the Western horizon. All of his family were with him at the end. Judge Sessions came to Dale County 28 years ago and immediately launched into a life of usefulness, devoting his entire time and means to the upbuilding of Dale County and this section of the Slate. He was the first to take the lead in advocating good roads, and he lived to see concrete and improved highways throughout his native state. In the capacity of county commissioner, he agitated better roads and when he was elevated to the probate judgeship his field was widened and his opportunities bigger. His efforts along all lines of progress were rewarded by accomplishments. His life was one of service to his people and in his passing a pioneer is lost to the state and county he loved so well. In appreciation of his devotion, Judge' Sessions bore the honor of being the first Probate Judge in Dale County to succeed himself. He was re-eelcted last November for another six-year term, receiving the nomi- nation by a very flattering vote. Judge Sessions was born on a farm three miles from Union Springs, Alabama, August 15, 1880, being a son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Frederick Sessions and a grandson of Dr. Lewe Sessions, an outstanding and beloved physician. Completing his education he came to Ozark in 1902 and for 15 years was connected with the Planters and Merchants Bank. In 1917 he retired from the bank and devoted his lime to operating his farm. He was elected commissioner in 1918 and probate judge in 1922. Judge Sessions was a Mason, Shriner, Knights of Pythias,an Elk,and a member of the Kiwanis. He was a member of the Methodist Church for many years. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, being a member of the Troy Rifles.
