OBITUARIES Elisha Woodard OZARK...Elisha Woodard, 66, of Teal Court, Ozark died at his home Thursday morning, December 7 following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Stonebridge Church of God with Revs. Roger Abernathy, Floyd Ingram and Randy Hayes officiating. Burial followed in the Union Presbyterian cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Military honors were conducted at graveside. Mr. Woodard was a native and life long resident of Dale County. He retired from civil service at Fort Rucker, was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. During his tour of service he received the Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, Army Occupation Ribbon [Japan], Victory Ribbon, two overseas service bars. Mr.Woodard was preceded in death by a daughter, Ernestine Woodard. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sara Woodard, Ozark; two daughters and sons- in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Sharp and Howard Sharp, Eustis, VA and Mrs. Shelia Robinson and Mike Robinson, Portland, Mich; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall Woodard and Debbie Woodard, Ozark and Edward Woodard and Myra Woodard of Newton; seven grandchildren also survive. Raymond Burl Walding MIDLAND CITY- Raymond Burl Walding, 73, of Midland City Rt. 1, died Tuesday afternoon. Dec. 5, in a Dothan hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Goss, Fletcher Smoak and L.R. Galloway officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. A lifelong resident of the Cedar Grove Community, near Midland City, Mr. Walding attended the First Assembly of God Church of Midland City. He was a farmer. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Elon Brown Walding, Midland City; three daughters and two sons in law, Barbara and Ray Okerson and Martha and Johnny Pybus, Midland City, and Janice Fay Woods, Aurora, Colorado; two sons and daughters in law. Jimmy and Marie Walding, Dothan, Ray and Martha Walding, Midland City; sister, Mrs. Leia Woodham, Ozark; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Saxon D. Dykes Clio...Mr. Saxon~D~Dykes, 75, Route 1, Clio died Thursday, December 7, 1989 in the Tuskegee V.A. Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, from the Salem Baptist Church Cemetary with the Rev. Dean Gatch and the Rev. Ed Peters officiating. Interment followed with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Dykes was a native of Dale County having lived most of his life in Dale and Barbour counties. He was a veteran of WW 11, serving in the U.S. Navy as a recruit instructor. Mr. Dykes was an educator for many years in public schools, serving in various capacities including principle, before retiring as an agent for Mutual Savings Life Insurance Co. in 1976. He also served as the Justice of the Peace in Clio. He was a member of the Blue Springs Masonic Lodge, #582 and a member of the Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs.Mary Norton Dykes, Clio; one daughter, Malissa Nolin, Ariton; one son, Mr. Saxon Dykes, Jr., Crestview; two step- daughters, Mrs. Pat Shirley, Millbrook, Mrs. Mary Grantham, Titus; two step- sons, Mr. Bobby Grice and Mr. Donald Grice, both of Pensacola; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetary Fund in care of Salem Baptist Church, Rt. 2, Ariton, Al. 36311. (This was the half brother of Harold Stephens Grandmother Hattie Dykes Hughes) Mrs.Lucille Grubbs OZARK- Mrs. Lucille Grubbs, 89, of 106 Larkin St., Ozark, died December 4, 1989 in the Dale County Hospital. The funeral was held Saturday, Dec. 9 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark with Dr. S.C. Jackson officiating. Burial was in the Ozark City Cemetery with Trawick's Funeral Home directing. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Martel Wilson; six grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends and relatives also survive. Willie Stokes Willie Stokes, 54, of Valentine St., Ozark, died Saturday, Dec. 9, in a Dothan hospital.
