Wednesday, December 16, 1885 Page One Skipperville, Ala., Dec. 1st, 1885 Prof. A.G. Bowen has been elected principal of the Skipperville Male and Female school. Mr. Joseph Patterson’s school at Pleasant Ridge Academy is flourishing. The work of rebuilding the Asbury Methodist church is progressing. Work on the new Presbyterian church will be resumed at an early day. We have been informed that our Presbyterian friends have invited the Rev. C.M. Shepperson, D.D. of Washington, K.Y., to become their pastor, which he has accepted and will commence his labors soon. An exodus to the piney woods is planned by some of our neighbor as they say, “where the land is level and poor.” Well Wisher File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/al/dale/newspapers/skipperv219nw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/alfiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
