Dr. Grace died Of complications developing from an operation for appendicitis, performed on the afternoon of December 5th. The operation, per se, was successful and the early reaction was distinctly favorable. However, one after another, several complications developed which, in the aggregate, were able to overcome the skill of the attending physicians and the strength and the will of the patient. Dr, Grace is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertie Riley Grace, one daughter, Dorothy, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Grace, two sisters. Mrs. A. C. Pippin and Miss Helen Grace, all of Ozark, and one brother, prof. W. F. Grace of Talladega, besides many other relatlves. It is not saying too much to say that the passing of no Individual among us would be as sorely felt by all the people as will the death of Dr. Grace. For many years he has conducted the Grace hospital in an eminently succcessful manner, both as surgeon and, physician, among our people. Big- hearted, sympathetic, quiet, unassuming and very capable, no one Of any degree or station in life, in need of a surgeon's or physician's attention was ever turned away from his hospital door. Dr. Grace was held In high esteem by the Medical Association having been for several years one of its vicepresidents, also serving as a member of the Board of Censors. He was a member of the M. E Church, South, long a member of the Board of Stewards. He was ever a booster for his town and county. Indeed it was his earnest desire to serve his community that impelled him to lay down a very lucrative general practice and establish his hospital In our midst. With the bereaved family and with the countless friends throughout Dale county, who mourn today for this good and capable man, the Star joins in a most profound sorrow. * Dr. Malcolm Grace, b Dec. 21,1884 d.
