Ed Lisenby Died Wednesday Prominent Ozark Citizen Succumbs To Long Illness Mr. Joseph Edward Lisenby,, age 70, died at his home at 154 Eufaula St., Wednesday after a long illness.His death, while expected, cast a gloom of sorrow over the entire community. Mr. Lisenby was a life long resident of Dale County. The son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Josh Lisenby he was a good and useful man and in his passing Ozark and Dale County have suffered an irreparable loss. For many years Mr. Ed was actively engaged In farming and saw-milling. Up until his recent illness he took an active part in the business, religious and political life of his home community and County. A kind Christian character, affable and understanding, he made and held friends as attested by the hundreds of people who gathered at his home and accompanied his remains to Bethel church for the last rites. He was a member of the Ozark Methodist church and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Johnnie Lisenby of Ozark; four daughters: Mrs. J. L. Baldwin and Miss Nettie Jane Lisenby of Ozark, Mrs. Alton Byrd of Elba and Mrs. Clanton Cowarta of Tampa, Fla; a step-daughter, Mrs. Lois Marino of Lakeland, Fla.. five sons, Joe W., Robert 0., 0. A. (Tee), Ray and Sam, all of Ozark; two sisters, Mrs. T. W. Ard and Mrs. W. C. Rogers, of Ozark; two brothers, A. Tom Lisenby and W. Oscar Lisenby of Ozark, and 13 grand children. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at Bethel church near Echo with the Rev. 0. G. Pope, Dr. D. P. Slaughter and Rev. Shaffner Baldwin officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Ozark Mortu- ary in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were his nephews: Charles Lisenby, Woods Lisenby, George Lisenby, Ted Lisenby, Howard Lisenby, Josh Ard, Carthel Ard and Shellie Ard. *Joseph Edward Lisenby b Mar.9, 1878 d.
