It is with sadness, that we announce the death of Mrs. Nancy Matthews, widow of
the late Edward Matthews, which sad event occurred at her home one mile north of
town last Tuesday morning.  Although her death was quite sad yet it was not
unexpected to those who were cognizant of her condition.  She has been for
months a constant sufferer, suffering from a tumor of the breast; while her pain
was great, yet she bore it with Christian fortitude and died enjoying the rich
blessings of heaven.  She was a consistent member of the Methodist church, and
was always punctual at her meetings.  She was buried Wednesday at the family
burial ground, Claybank.  To the grief stricken children and relatives we extend
our sympathies.
