E. E. PAULK Our city and the surrounding territory was shocked last Monday afternoon at the sudden death of Mrs. E. E. Paulk, of this city. Although having been suffering lately from nervous attacks she was able to be up, and physically she appeared in the best of health. Monday afternoon Dr. J. H. Patton called at her home to see her daughter, Mrs. John Stubbs who was slightly ill and requested him to make an examination of his wife, and give her something for the nervous attacks which she had been surffering recently. While Mrs. Paulk was entering her room she suddenly gave way and would have fallen had not Dr. Patton caught her, laying her upon a bed in an unconscious condition. She lived only fifteen minutes. The cause of her death being heart failure. On January 17, 1875 Miss Elizabeth Garner and Mr. E. E. Paulk were married, making their home a short distance east of this place. They lived happily for many years and reared a family of eight children, all of whom survive their mother, being as follows: J. J., J. P., A. M., C. L., Enos and Ed Paulk, of this city. Mrs. Paulk was a devout member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Living to be 58 years and 5 days of age, her life had been one full of kindness and usefulness. Those who came in contact with her always praised her most highly. The many friends of the decessed extended their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. Funeral services were conducted at her home on Tuesday afternoon by Rev. J.J. Byrd, interment being at the City Cemetery.
