Wednesday morning, December 10, 1884 Page Three We are again called upon to announce the death of another good citizen. Mr. David M. Young died at his home near Echo in this county at an early hour last Saturday morning from a cancer in the mouth, from the effects of which he had suffered greatly for several months past. His remains were buried at Bethel church by the Masonic fraternity on Sunday afternoon. The large concourse that attended, his funeral is an evidence of the esteem in which he was held in the community in which he lived. The Southern Star Ozark, Dale County, Ala. Wednesday morning, January 7, 1885 Page Three Tribute of Respect Ozark Lodge No. 319 We your committee appointed to draft suitable resolutions expressing the feelings of this lodge, beg leave to submit the following preamble: Whereas, the wisdom of the Disposer of all events, the Supreme Ruler of the Universe in Whom there is no error, has seen fit to remove from our midst, our esteemed Brother David M. Young, born January 11, 1809 died Dec. 6th, 1884. being called from the mystic “circle of labor here,” to a lodge of perpetual refreshment in the great unknown, whose Worshipful Master alone, can fathom the motives of his heart while on earth, not only as a Brother Mason, but also as a husband and father. Be it Resolved, That we bow with reverence to the will of God, who is too good to err and too gracious to be unkind, no matter how trying the ordeals may be through which we are called to pass. We do not say that Brother Young was perfect, for perfection is found alone in God. He had his faults as all mortals have, but whatever they were, are buried in the grave where his body now rests. Let us remember only his virtues and profit by them. Resolved, That we offer our sincere regards, our heartfelt condolence to the surviving members of his bereaved family, and earnestly pray, that God may be a husband to the widow and a father to the orphan. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be furnished to the family of the deceased by the Secretary, and that they also be published in The Southern Star. M.S. Smith N.
