We were up with the woonded boys near;y all night. We went in small squads without lights that night. To where our dead acquaintances lay on the field, and felt in their pockets to get their effects to send to their homes, and find where they had been shot. I suppose the Joe buried them as we left next morning. It was quite cool – cool that night and most of the woounded complained of being cold and we wraped our blankets about them. The doctors worked with them nearly all night.
