Crossed Sand mountain, to Decatur, crossed the river on a pontoon near 
Tuscumbia to Florrance, to Columbia Tenn, waided the river and marched through 
the fields to near Spring Hill, waided a creek and had a fight, then on the 
pike to Franklin where we formed in line and charged  them and I was wounded..
  Franklin Tenn, was the worst place the 33rd Ala, got into , our men were 
ordered to fix bayonets, and went in right shoulder shift arms,  (Hardees 
manual Confederate tactics)
the officers in front, the order was not to fire a gun untill we got to their 
works, the ground was open, shells explodeing within about one thousand yards 
of their works and after they had opened up on us with small arms the command 
double quick was given
