         Local Couple Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary
 Nov. 12, 1964 Reprinted Southern Star Nov. 10, 2004.

 Few couples are privileged to celebrate sixty years of married life as Mr. and 
Mrs. J. A. Smith of Ozark.
 "Mr. Jim" and "Miss Ida Belle", as they are lovingly called. were married in 
Enterprise, Alabama" in 1904. They had a home wedding and Miss Leila Goff was 
Maid of Honor.
 Seven children were born to the Smiths as follows: Edwin, Julia Frances, Myra 
Belle. Margarette, Carolyn, James (deceases) and Rutledge.
 Mr. Smith Was engaged in the merchandise business here for forty-six years. 
Homer Smith, his brother, was his business partner. The store was on the North 
side of the Court Square where the Kenwin Shop is now situated.
 Mr. and Mrs. Smith are the oidest members ot the 0zark Baptist Church, and 
have always been participants in all the activities of the church.
 Mrs. Smith has held all the offices of the Missionary Society having been 
President several times. Mr. Smith was one ot the charter members of Baraca 
Class, and Mrs. Smith is now a regular attendant at the T.E.L. Class. 
 Mr. Smith was a Mason, and he is now Financial Secretary of Woodman ot the 
World and Mrs. Smith serves as Financial Secretary of the Auxiliary. These 
offices have been held for approximately fifty years.
