Mr. Flowers was educated in the rural schools of the county and the Baptist Collegiate Institute at Newton. He entered business in Ozark in 1918 as a livestock dealer,and later was associated with Wilmer Parker, Sr., in the operation of Parker and Flowers livestock dealers, and as distributors for Standard Oil Company. He was later associated with his son, Edward Erie Flowers, as distributor for Standard Oil Company. His first public office was as a city councilman, being elected in 1924 and serving until 1926 when he was elected Mayor of Ozark. He served the city as Mayor for two terms and was at one time chairman of the water board. He served as chairman of the Board of Deacons of the Baptist Church and also as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the K. of P. and also of Woodsmen of the World. On June 11, 1912, he married Emma Payne, daughter of James J. and Minnie (Carroll) Payne of Dale County. They had two sons, Edward Erie and Ab. Mr. Flowers died at his home in Ozark May 19, 1955.
